Restoring Power Safely and Efficiently

Estimated Restoration Times

We try to provide an accurate time estimation of when the power will be back on. Sometimes we can bypass a problem and restore power sooner than expected. In other cases, the cause of the power outage may be difficult to locate or access, or there may be several problems so the repair may take longer than estimated.

In severe storms, the situation can change from moment to moment. In these conditions, we cannot always provide an estimate of restoration times early in a storm situation. Public safety takes precedence at all times. In severe storm conditions, NTPC will ask for customers' understanding and patience until power can be restored.

In other situations, the NTPC crew may learn that the cause of the outage is difficult to locate or is particularly complicated. If the outage has multiple causes — which may become apparent only after the first problem has been fixed — the repair may take longer than originally predicted.

On occasion an estimated restoration time may not be available. During storms, our customers are communicating a large volume of information and the situation can change from moment to moment. In these conditions, providing estimated restoration times is not always possible early on.
