AwardsWhether it’s doing our part to keep the environment clean or making sure our employees are safe on the job, we take our commitment to the North and its people very seriously. And we’ve received national recognition for our efforts!

2007 –Arctic Energy Alliance’s Energy Efficiency Award, Runner Up. The Corporation was recognized for its environmental commitment through its streetlight conversion program. NTPC converted approximately 1,500 streetlights to high efficiency lights in the thermal communities.

2005 – Canadian Electricity Association’s President’s Bronze Medal Award, Employee Safety. The Corporation won this prestigious electrical industry safety award for its commitment to employee safety. NTPC achieved over 1,000,000 hours worked without lost time due to accidents.

1999, 2003 – Voluntary Challenge Registry’s Environmental Leadership Award, Honourable Mention. The Corporation received this honorary mention from the Canadian Standards Association for its commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and environmental stewardship.

2001 – Voluntary Challenge Registry’s Environmental Leadership Award. The Corporation received this award for its efforts in reducing greenhouse gas emission intensity and environmental stewardship.

2000 – CIPA Achievement of Excellence. The NTPC received a Canadian Information Productivity Award (CIPA) for its excellence in the field of information technology (IT). It recognized NTPC’s satellite network, which boasted superior design and functionality, not only in north but in the world.

1999 – Voluntary Challenge Registry, Best New Submission. The Corporation was honoured with the best new submission for its efforts to cut greenhouse gas emissions.
