Need Power?

Seven Steps to Getting Hooked Up

Step 1 – Customer Service Request

Step 2 – Field Visit and Quote

  • We'll coordinate a field visit to determine the most economical route possible. The power line will be surveyed and staked.
  • We prepare a quote for the service connection and a Request for Service Agreement is sent to you.

Step 3 - Customer Acceptance

  • You must then review, approve, and pay the quoted cost.
  • If you decline the estimate, the Corporation closes the service request.

Step 4 - Completion

  • After approval and payment, we'll complete designs and order materials for your service connection.

Step 5 – External Permits, Approvals, and Easements

  • Depending on the location of the line, permits or approvals may be needed from third parties such as municipalities, NWT or Federal governments, aboriginal organizations, businesses, or private citizens.
  • Land use permits or highway permits may also be required.
  • We'll undertake to obtain the required permits on your behalf .

Step 6 – Construction

  • Materials are picked from our warehouse or shipped to the site, a crew is scheduled for construction, and the work is completed.

Step 7 – Meter Installation and Service

  • A Regional Electrical Inspector provides us with a connection authorization (we cannot energize the customer facilities until authorization is obtained).
  • Your billing account is set up.
  • A service meter is installed and you now have service.
  • Final construction costs are tallied and you must pay or are refunded the difference between actual and estimated costs.
