General Service

Connection Fee

A one-time, non-refundable connection fee of $40 is included in a customer’s first bill.

Security Deposit

Customers must provide a security deposit, which is an estimate of the two months with the highest energy consumption during a 12-month period.

Demand Charge

Demand charge is calculated using the maximum amount of electricity consumed at a given time.  It is measured in either kilowatts (kW) or kilovolt amperes (kVA).  The Demand Charge is typically designed to recover the customers’ share of system costs – generation, transmission and distribution – based on the volume of electricity used.
The Corporation charges customers $8 per kW per month for the highest demand consumed over the previous 11 months. By following a few simple energy saving practices businesses can reduce their demand charge.
