Director, Engineering and Chief Engineer

The Northwest Territories Power Corporation, headquartered in Hay River, NWT, and is responsible for the generation and distribution of electricity throughout the Northwest Territories. You will be part of the Corporations’ executive team to provide strategic direction and leadership in managing Engineering programs, providing support to operations, policies, and procedures to meet the needs of the Corporation.
You will be responsible for directing a team of engineers, technologists and administrative staff. Responsibilities include contributing to the five-year capital plan, coordination of design and project management staff in the delivery of capital projects, support of operations as well as policy and procedure development and implementation. Your excellent communication skills will assist you in appearing at public hearings before the Public Utilities Board, the Board of Directors and before government committees.
Candidates who possess effective interpersonal skills and management skills supplemented by demonstrated leadership and team skills are encouraged to apply. A solid understanding and knowledge of the utility industry is required. Extensive proven management/supervisory experience in a utility or heavy industry is necessary, preferably in a unionized and team-based work environment.
Qualifications: Professional Engineer, eligibility for membership in NAPEGG and extensive related experience in an electrical utility, including supervision.
