Additional Generator Installed in Rae EdzoYellowknife (January 20, 2006) - The Northwest Territories Power Corporation (NTPC) successfully installed an additional generator at the Frank’s Channel Diesel Station on Thursday January 19, at 11pm. Power was restored within an hour and a half which was in line with the notices that NTPC sent out to the communities earlier in the day. Randy Patrick, Director of the North Slave Region, said “The addition of the generator will provide more than enough backup to serve all power needs of the communities of Rae Edzo until the repairs can be made to the damaged hydro line and tower”. Work is continuing on the damaged hydro line and tower, but NTPC is unsure how long the repairs will take to complete due to weather conditions and limited daylight to conduct the work safely.
