At 11.32pm on Thursday
June 7 a power outage occurred while Corporation staff were completing
a regular maintenance exercise at the Snare Cascades hydro station.
'The maintenance
work involved isolating the main transmission cable into our Yellowknife
sub-station and during the process of switching the system back we experienced
an operational error resulting in the loss of power from Snare' said
Randy Patrick, Director, North Slave.
Patrick advised
that partial power supply was restored by 11.51pm and the city was back
on full power by 12.25am.
'We will be reviewing
our procedures over the next week to ensure that a similar situation
does not happen in the future and on behalf of the Corporation I apologize
for any inconvenience that this outage may have caused' said Patrick.
