Just after 2.00pm
on Wednesday June 20, a power outage occurred in Dettah, Rae Edzo and
Yellowknife.
'We are still investigating
the cause of the outage that occurred on the main transmission line
from Snare to Yellowknife' said Randy Patrick, Director, North Slave.
The over-current
situation that led to the outage, could have been as a result of a failed
insulator for example, or birds coming into contact with the line.
Patrick advised
that half of Yellowknife had power restored within 23 minutes, and the
balance, including customers in Rae Edzo, had full power available 32
minutes after the outage first occurred.
'The Corporation
apologizes for any inconvenience that this outage may have caused' said
Patrick.
