The Minister
Responsible for the Northwest Territories Power Corporation, Jake Ootes
today announced a variety of appointments to the corporation's board
of directors.
"These appointments
will help ensure continued reliable, safe power delivery across the
NWT and Nunavut," Mr. Ootes said.
Newly appointed
to the NWTPC Board of Directors are Rick Blennerhassett and Andrew Gaule:
Rick Blennerhassett
of Iqaluit graduated from the University of New Brunswick. He has worked
for St. Catherine's Hydro Electric Commission, the Nova Scotia Power
Corporation and the Northwest Territories Power Corporation. His diligent
work promoting safety on the job at NWTHC contributed to the Corporation's
passing of the 'one million person hours' mark with no lost-time accidents.
He currently holds the position of President of the Nunavut Power Corporation.
His appointment is effective until March 31, 2001.
Andrew Gaule is
the owner of North of Sixty Training and Consulting Ltd. (financial
services and consulting) and North of Sixty Office Micro (computers,
office supplies and paper) in Fort Simpson. He has a strong background
in accounting and completed his education at Bristol University, UK.
Mr. Gaule specializes in community economic development for many First
Nation clients and prepares business plans for many private sector clients.
He has served on several boards and agencies, including the Fort Simpson
Chamber of Commerce and Nogha Enterprises. His appointment is effective
until June 14, 2003.
Eric Shelton of
Calgary has been re-appointed as a board member until August 31, 2001,
Kelly Kaylo of Yellowknife has been re-appointed until June 14, 2003
and Tom Zubko of Inuvik has been re-appointed as a board member until
August 31, 2003.
Simon Merkosak of
Pond Inlet will continue in his capacity as Vice Chairman of the Board.
He was re-appointed until March 31, 2001.
