John
Parker, O.C., P. Eng.
has attended his last board meeting of the Northwest Territories Power
Corporation
Mr. Parker has served as a member of the Board of Directors since 1989.
He graduated from the University of Alberta as a geological engineer
and worked in the mining field in Saskatchewan and the Northwest Territories
until his appointment as deputy commissioner of the NWT in 1967. In
1979 he was appointed commissioner and served in that position until
his retirement in 1989.
Gordon Stewart,
Chairman of the Board, announced Mr Parker's retirement at a board meeting
held in Hay River this week.
'John
has been an extremely valuable member of the board over the last 12
years with both his extensive knowledge of the north and of our industry'
said Stewart. 'His wise counsel and dedication to the governance of
the Corporation will be missed.'
John Parker and
his wife Helen are now living in Sidney, BC and enjoy an active community
and business life.
