The Northwest Territories
Power Corporation is proud to announce its sponsorship of the NWT-wide
KidSport program.
‘We were very
pleased to be invited to participate in this program as a major sponsor
as it meets one of our key sponsorship goals of supporting the youth
of the NWT’ said the Corporation’s North Slave Operations
Director, Randy Patrick.
Power Corporation
representatives presented a cheque for $5,000 to the program organizer
Gail Nesbitt of Sport North at a ceremony in Yellowknife today. The
program is administered by Sport North and overseen by a volunteer committee.
Funds provided by the Corporation will be used specifically to assist
kids across the NWT.
The primary aim
of the KidSport program is to overcome the financial barriers that prevent
some young people from playing sport and in so doing promote the health
and wellness benefits of participation.
‘We all know
how important it is for young people in particular to have the opportunity
to participate in sporting activities and the Corporation strongly supports
the work of this program’ said Patrick.
The Corporation’s
other major sponsorships include the Drug Abuse Resistance Education
program operated by the RCMP, the NWT Outstanding Volunteer Awards in
association with MACA, and the South Slave Friendship Festival.
