Hardy Designated NWTPC Vice Chair

YELLOWKNIFE – Minister Responsible for the Northwest Territories Power Corporation (NWTPC) Joe Handley today announced the designation of Rod Hardy as Vice-Chairperson of the NWTPC Board of Directors.

Mr. Hardy, a retired businessman from Tulita, currently serves as a Director with the NWTPC. He has been involved in community politics for several years and presently serves on the NWT Metis-Dene Development Fund Board.

Mr. Hardy has served as a negotiator for the Metis Land Claims, Vice-President of the Metis Nation, and until recently, Director and Chairperson to the Northern Route Gas and Pipeline Corporation. He formerly served on the NWTPC’s Board of Directors from 1988 to 1998. Mr. Hardy’s term will expire May 31, 2004.

The Minister says he’s pleased that Mr. Hardy has agreed to take on the role of Vice-Chairman of the Board for the Crown Corporation. “His years of experience and ability will be beneficial to the future endeavours of this organization,” Mr. Handley said.

Mr. Hardy replaces Kelly Kaylo of Yellowknife who resigned as a Director and Vice-Chairperson of the Board in July.
