– Minister Responsible for the Northwest Territories Power Corporation
(NWTPC) Joe Handley today announced the designation of Rod Hardy as
Vice-Chairperson of the NWTPC Board of Directors.
Mr. Hardy, a retired
businessman from Tulita, currently serves as a Director with the NWTPC.
He has been involved in community politics for several years and presently
serves on the NWT Metis-Dene Development Fund Board.
Mr. Hardy has served
as a negotiator for the Metis Land Claims, Vice-President of the Metis
Nation, and until recently, Director and Chairperson to the Northern
Route Gas and Pipeline Corporation. He formerly served on the NWTPC’s
Board of Directors from 1988 to 1998. Mr. Hardy’s term will expire
May 31, 2004.
The Minister says
he’s pleased that Mr. Hardy has agreed to take on the role of
Vice-Chairman of the Board for the Crown Corporation. “His years
of experience and ability will be beneficial to the future endeavours
of this organization,” Mr. Handley said.
Mr. Hardy replaces
Kelly Kaylo of Yellowknife who resigned as a Director and Vice-Chairperson
of the Board in July.
