Electrical Technician

Yellowknife, NT

(2 Positions – Indeterminate & 2 yr term)

Working as a member of the Generation Group, you will provide technical knowledge and skill in the repair and maintenance of various pieces of electrical and electronic apparatus. This includes electrical maintenance of hydro and diesel power plants and troubleshooting of generation and control equipment. In this role you will also perform troubleshooting of PLC hardware and software, LAN, testing of protective systems and auxiliary equipment such as transformers, breakers and relays. .

Qualifications: Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology and eligible for registration as a C.E.T. Several years related experience in an industrial environment, preferably in a utility environment, andknowledge in the use of specialized equipment such as hypot (high potential tester), infrared thermal imaging systems, protective relay analysers, transformer ratio-meter and partial discharge analysers. Good planning, organizational, communication skills and proficiency in computer applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, maintenance programs, and electrical design software. Must possess the ability to read and work off blueprints, as well as interpret drawings, diagrams, and specifications of a variety of types of electrical equipment, including manufacturer’s manuals. Must be able to work in a team environment as well as individually with minimal supervision. Some travel to isolated locations required.
