KidSport™

KidSportis a national program that brings sport and needy kids together - so all kids can play. It identifies the needs of the community and supports programs which create new opportunities for young people to participate in sport.

Funds provided by the Corporation will be used specifically to assist kids across the NWT.

 

Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.)

 

More than 700 students from across the NWT took part in D.A.R.E. programs run by members of the RCMP during 2002.

The Power Corporation, along with First Air, is a major sponsor of this program.

 

 

 

 

Northwest Territories Outstanding Volunteer Awards

The Awards for the Outstanding Territorial Volunteers were announced at a recent function co-hosted by Municipal and Community Affairs and the Award's major sponsor, Northwest Territories Power Corporation.

Each Award recipient received a plaque and a cheque for $500 courtesy of the Power Corporation. The $500 prize could either be donated by the recipient to a not-for-profit organization or used for further educational activities.

Listed below are the 2003 Territorial Volunteer winners and in brakets are the names of the organizations that will benefit by receiving a $500 donation.

Northwest Territories Track & Field Championships (Hay River, June)

More than 1,000 athletes participate in the championships every year.
