GRA Temporary Adjustment Rider Comes Into Effect on August 1, 2018

Jul 25, 2018

HAY RIVER, NWT (July 25, 2018) – The Northwest Territories Power Corporation (NTPC) wants to inform customers that a GRA Adjustment rate rider will come into effect on August 1, 2018.  The rider is tied to Decision 12-2018 of the NWT Public Utilities Board (PUB) regarding NTPC’s General Rate Application (GRA) for 2016-19.

As the result of the PUB decision on May 28, 2018, new rates for NTPC customers were to be applied retroactively to April 1, 2018.  However, because of the release date of the PUB decision, new rates were not implemented until June 1, 2018, meaning that sales in April and May used 2017-18 rates. As a result NTPC did not collect full revenue for April and May, which has resulted in a revenue shortfall of $357,000.

The rate rider is 0.17 cents/kWh for all customer classes. The rider is estimated to be in place from August 1, 2018 to March 31, 2019.

Customers are reminded that conserving power is an effective way to lower their electricity bills and are encouraged to visit for money and energy saving actions.

NTPC is a wholly owned subsidiary of NT Hydro, which in turn is 100 percent owned by the Government of the Northwest Territories.
