HAY RIVER, NT (November 25, 2021) – Today, Diane Archie, Minister responsible for the Northwest Territories Power Corporation (NTPC) announced the appointment of Mr. Cory Strang as President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Northwest Territories Power Corporation (NTPC), effective November 28, 2021.
Mr. Strang is a northerner with more than twenty years of experience working for the Corporation in a variety of financial positions including budgeting, regulatory affairs and risk management and his most recent position as Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Strang brings a wealth of experience to this position along with a valuable understanding of the NWT’s partners and energy potential.
“Mr. Strang’s qualifications and experience are well suited for the important next steps that this Government and NTPC will take in the coming months to meet the challenges and demands of providing safe, reliable power to our communities. I have enjoyed working with Mr. Strang as Acting President and CEO since May 2021 and I look forward to a working with him over the coming months as we set the strategic direction for the future of the Corporation” Minister Archie noted.
As a Metis and having been born and raised in Hay River, Mr. Strang will be the first President and CEO from the NWT to lead the Corporation since NTPC’s establishment in 1988.
Under the direction of the Board of Directors, Mr. Strang will lead the management and provide operational oversight for NTPC, NT Hydro and its subsidiaries.
