HAY RIVER, Northwest Territories (August 28, 2026) The Board of Directors of the Northwest Territories Hydro Corporation and the Northwest Territories Power Corporation have accepted, with regret, the resignation of President and CEO Cory Strang.
Cory was appointed to the President and CEO role in November 2021. He worked at NTPC in a variety of financial positions for 28 years including budgeting, regulatory affairs, risk management and Chief Financial Officer. Cory brought a wealth of experience to this position along with a valuable understanding of the NWT’s partners and energy potential. Cory was the first Indigenous President and CEO from the NWT to lead the Corporation since NTPC’s establishment in 1988.
Cory will continue as President and CEO until December 31, 2026. The Board has initiated a CEO recruitment process and transition plan. Recruitment for the position of Chief Financial Officer is also underway due to the previously announced retirement of the incumbent.
