Cory Strang, President and Chief Executive Officer

Cory Strang’s commitment to the Northwest Territories’ electricity sector began in 1999 when he first joined the Northwest Territories Power Corporation after completing his Bachelor of Commerce degree at the University of Alberta. Cory has held several positions with the Power Corporation with increasing authority and responsibility including the positions of Manager, Treasury and New Business Development, and Manager, Treasury and Enterprise Risk. It was while in these roles that Cory gained valuable insight and experience in the management of the Corporation’s finance, operations, utility rate regulation, risk management, capital program, renewable energy programs, and new business development. In 2006, Cory obtained a Chartered Financial Analyst designation from the CFA Institute.

In 2016, Cory was promoted to the position of Manager, Budgeting and Regulatory Affairs where he was responsible for the development of the Corporation’s annual operations and maintenance budget including revenue forecasting and managing long-term corporate planning, cash flow forecasts and long-term debt management. In this position Cory was the corporate authority for the Corporation’s utility rate applications and represented the Corporation as corporate witness at Public Utility Board hearings. Cory was once again promoted in 2020 to oversee the Corporation’s Finance Division as Chief Financial Officer and in 2021was appointed as President and CEO.

Cory is Metis and was born and raised in Hay River NT making him the first President and CEO from the NWT. With more than 25 years of utility experience and his long-term dedication to the Corporation Cory plans to use his understanding of the often-complex utility concepts and communicate these in an open and transparent manner with community leaders, Indigenous Governments, the Board of Directors and the Shareholder.

Belinda Whitford, Chief Operating Officer

Belinda has more than 20 years of utility finance experience and was NTPC's controller for more than four years before assuming the role of Chief Financial Officer in April 2016. Belinda assumed the role of COO in October 2020. In her current role, Belinda has overall accountability for Hydro Operations, Thermal Operations and Transmission and Distribution. 

Paul Grant, Chief Financial Officer

Paul is a Chartered Professional Accountant with a degree in economics.  He has more than two decades of experience with NTPC working in finance, generation and distribution areas.  Appointed as Director, Customer Service in 2016, his area of responsibilities included billing, metering and customer service.  He continued to develop the customer experience by utilizing technology to make interaction with customers more timely and efficient. He was appointed Director, Corporate Planning in August 2018. In this role, he continues to oversee Customer Service, with additional responsibilities for Continuous Improvement, the Strategic Planning Process, and Communications. In November 2019, Paul assumed leadership of a new Corporate Services division, which included his previous areas of responsibility along with Information Technology and Supply Chain Management. He assumed the role of Chief Financial Officer in February 2022.

Sanjay Kumar, Director, Projects and Engineering  

Sanjay Kumar is a Professional Electrical Engineer, Project Management professional, and IEEE Senior member with over 26 years of experience.

Sanjay has diverse Hydro, Thermal & Renewable Generation, Transmission & Distribution Electric Utility experience in Project and Portfolio Management, Business Development, Strategic Planning, Financial Management, Operation & Maintenance, Asset Management, and Reliability. He has previously worked with electrical utilities in Alberta and India. 

Sanjay joined NTPC as manager of design in  May 2019 and assumed the role of Director of Project & Engineering in  August  2024.

Ian Flood, Director, Energy North Operations

 Ian has more than 30 years experience in the engineering environment and emigrated to Canada in 2012 after 16 years with Rolls-Royce Marine Division in the UK, latterly as Project Manager for an EU-funded noise reduction for future fast ferries project. He joined NTPC’s Engineering Department in 2012 as a Project Manager and moved to the Thermal Asset Manager role in 2017. In his roles at NTPC, Ian led the installation of the new Colville Lake power plant system – with its combination of solar and BESS technologies. He also was responsible for the Aklavik Variable Speed Generator project. Ian brings significant experience in genset maintenance and troubleshooting as well as achieving the designation of Professional Engineer, Certified Asset Management Professional, Project Management Professional as well as MBA and Bachelor of Engineering degrees.  Ian assumed the role of Director, Energy North Operations in September 2024.  

Dean Hendrickson, Director, Energy South Operations

Dean has more than 20 years experience in the Public Service, working at both the Northwest Territories Power Corporation (NTPC) and the Government of the Northwest Territories. He joined NTPC’s Engineering Department in 2001 as a Project Technologist.  Over the next 20 years, Dean took on expanded roles and responsibilities in the areas of Operations and Maintenance and Asset Management before assuming his current role as Director, Energy South Operations.  He holds a designation as a Registered Engineering Technologist in the mechanical discipline. In 2016, Dean was in an initial cohort of people who entered a new program for to achieve designation as a Certified Asset Management Professional and was the first registered graduate in Canada.    

Lee Brenton, Director, Transmission Distribution Operations 

Lee has more than 35 years in the transmission and distribution utility industry, having worked with Newfoundland Hydro, Quilliq Energy and BC Hydro before joining NTPC. In his current role, Lee is responsible for transmission, distribution and vegetation management and has placed a high priority on improving reliability of electricity service across the wide geographical landscape that NTPC serves. He works with Indigenous governments to ensure community energy supply continues to meet their requirements.

Scott Falshaw, Director, Health, Safety and Environment

Scott is an award-winning Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) with over 10 years of occupational health and safety experience in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut. His strong regulatory background is complemented by his collaborative, inclusive approach to health and safety programming, incorporating psychological wellness and cultural competence into the health, safety, and environmental priorities of the NTPC. 

Scott's diverse experience in northern public and private sector workplaces includes a demonstrated commitment to learning and development, with a focus on best practices in safety culture and continuous improvement. 

Arnold Marira, Director, Human Resources

Prior to joining NTPC in 2025 as Director, Human Resources, Arnold led the human resources function of an Alberta public school board. Arnold’s leadership experience spans across multiple sectors – both public and private, including Alberta’s oil sector, and a national retailer. He has also taught human resources at the university level and provided consulting services to First Nation and Métis governments. Arnold holds a Bachelor of Commerce from York University and a Master of Human Resources Management from the University of Regina.

Chuck Myles, Director, Finance

Chuck is a Chartered Professional Accountant with over 15 years of senior management and strategic leadership experience in manufacturing, distribution, logistics and more recently the electric utilities industry. Chuck is a proven leader with strong business acumen, a strong record of results-oriented achievements and has a history of developing new business initiatives. Chuck joined NTPC in July of 2021 as the Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis and assumed the role of Director, Finance in 2022.

Erin Ladouceur, Director, Customer Service

Erin grew up in the North, living in both Cambridge Bay and Yellowknife through high school graduation.  Upon graduation from University of Lethbridge with a Bachelor of Arts (Geography), she returned to Yellowknife to start working in various customer service positions.  Erin joined NTPC as a summer student during her university years and permanently joined the Corporation in 2002, as a part-time Customer Service Representative in Yellowknife. She ultimately progressed to Director, Customer Service in March 2022. 

Erin is focused on providing excellent customer experiences by developing NTPC’s customer service approaches to meet evolving customer’s needs.  She recognizes that today’s NTPC, needs to be dynamic and robust to meet these rapidly evolving needs.  She strives to provide a balanced approach between technological innovations and the northern traditions and culture.

Tim Dressel, Director, Information Technology 

Tim Dressel serves as Director of Information Technology at NTPC, leading a highly skilled team responsible for the strategic planning, design, implementation, and management of the organization's comprehensive technology infrastructure. This team ensures the resilience of NTPC's technology portfolio in the face of complex challenges, including those arising from climate change, geographical remoteness, and the vast scale of operations. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, Tim plays a pivotal role in driving the technological advancements necessary to deliver clean, reliable, and affordable energy.

Tim boasts over two decades of experience in heavy industry, possessing a deep understanding of the convergence between automation, business needs, and emerging technologies. He holds an undergraduate degree in Physics, an MBA specializing in Digital Technologies Management, and a distinguished record of technical certifications. Tim also maintains an active CISSP designation since 2019, reflecting his commitment to cybersecurity best practices and its direct application to the Utility.
