EV Charging Stations in the NWT
There has been improved access to Level 2 and Level 3 charging stations in the NWT over the past several years. Increasingly, the location of these stations can be found on various maps, digital apps as well as the on-board navigation systems inside electric vehicles themselves.
All NWT public chargers require drivers to join a service network to use them. Once you've registered with a network, you'll be sent a member card which you can use to pay at the EV charger. Some networks' chargers can also be accessed using a smartphone app or a credit card. By registering with multiple networks, drivers will have access to more chargers.
IMPORTANT: Before you head out on your excursion, download the digital apps that are required to use the charging stations along your route! Given the remoteness of the NWT road system, it's wise to review the digital apps to ensure all chargers are operational.

Tips for Safe & Efficient Charging
To ensure a safe, smooth and respectful charging experience:
- Choose the right spot: Please park your EV in designated electric vehicle spots while charging to keep things organized and accessible for everyone.
- Ensure a timely departure: As soon as your charging session is complete, move your vehicle to allow others to use the charger without delay.
- Tidy up: Neatly return the charging cord when you are finished charging.
- Respect others: Never unplug another driver’s vehicle without permission.
