Fire on Bluefish transmission line still burning

YELLOWKNIFE, NT (June 17, 2014) – A fire, believed to have been started by a raven touching a power conductor on the hydroelectric transmission line not far from the Bluefish plant, continues to burn this morning.

The fire started just before 5:30 p.m. yesterday shutting down power to Yellowknife, Behchoko and Dettah. Diesel generators were started and power was fully restored to the communities approximately 75 minutes later.

NTPC Applies for One Cent Fuel Rider

HAY RIVER, Northwest Territories (March 11, 2014) – Northwest Territories Power Corporation (NTPC) has filed a request with the Public Utilities Board (PUB) for a fuel rider of one cent per kilo Watt hour, in an attempt to stabilize the effects of the rising cost of diesel fuel.
