NTPC Applies for One Cent Fuel Rider

HAY RIVER, Northwest Territories (March 11, 2014) – Northwest Territories Power Corporation (NTPC) has filed a request with the Public Utilities Board (PUB) for a fuel rider of one cent per kilo Watt hour, in an attempt to stabilize the effects of the rising cost of diesel fuel.

Inuvik, NT

 Northern Canada’s first liquefied natural gas facility opened today in Inuvik, providing significant environmental benefits and lowering rate costs to 21 NWT communities.

Northwest Territories Power Corporation has received approval from the NWT Public Utilities Board for a streetlight rate that supports the implementation of new, energy efficient, light-emitting diode (LED) streetlights.

“As part of its commitment to the GNWT’s energy strategy initiatives, NTPC is dedicated to supplying energy to its customer at the lowest cost possible, while limiting our reliance on fossil fuels for electricity generation in the communities it serves,” says Michael Miltenberger, Minister Responsible for NTPC.
