NTPC generates power for Yellowknife at the Snare and Bluefish hydro sites and through some diesel generation at the Jackfish plant. Power is sold at wholesale rates to Northland Utilities Ltd. which distributes it to the community.

Power is supplied by three diesel generating units with a total output of 781 kW and 10 kW of installed solar capacity.

The main power plant contains two diesel generators, rated at 175 kW and 480 kW each. A separate module houses a 320 kW generator. A Waste Heat Recovery System provides heat from power generation to Mezi Community School.

Power for Wekweeti is generated and distributed by Northland Utilities (Yellowknife) Ltd.

The plant has three diesel generators with a combined capacity of 1.16 MW. A small heat recovery system heats three buildings in the community.  One generator was replaced in 2012.

This plant is equipped with three diesel engines with a total installed capacity of 1.1 MW.

Three diesel generators have a total installed capacity 2.21 MW.

The power plant houses three diesel generating units with a total capacity of 510 kW. 

Power for Trout Lake is generated and distributed by Northland Utilities (NWT) Ltd.

The power plant contains three diesel generators with a total installed capacity of 795 kW.
