HAY RIVER, Northwest Territories (February 23, 2023) The Northwest Territories Power Corporation (NTPC) has announced that the overhaul of the Taltson Hydroelectric Facility will begin in April 2023.

Yellowknife, NT is the capital city of the Northwest Territories; and is located on the northside of Great Slave Lake. The Northwest Territories Power Corporation generates and supplies Power to the City via two transmission lines from 2 hydro facilities Snare and Bluefish. They also have a backup diesel generating station located in the city limits of Yellowknife at Jackfish Lake (JLS). (Google Earth Lat and Long 62⁰ 28’07.48” N - 114⁰ 22’51.68” W).

NTPC is undertaking a major overhaul of the Taltson Hydro unit. The Turbine and Generator installer (Litostroj Hydro Inc) has provided a design build solution for the major components and installation of all wiring to junction boxes for furtherance to NTPC’s switchgear and control panels. L&S Electrical has supplied a pre-wired Governor Control Cabinet/ Unit Control Cabinet. VibroSystM has provided the unit vibration monitoring cabinet. CIMA+ has provided a design to complete the interconnection of all remaining wiring referred to as the balance of plant electrical design.

The Northwest Territories Power Corporation (“NTPC”) is requesting Proposals from qualified “Proponents” to engineer design, supply, fabrication, installation, testing, commissioning, and putting into service of the Fire Protection System for the Bluefish G2 building replacing the existing CO2 Fire Protection System with a Vortex System including the removal of the existing carbon dioxide fire protection.

Łutselk’e, Northwest Territories, January 25, 2023 – Today, Michael McLeod, Member of Parliament for Northwest Territories, Diane Archie, Minister Responsible for the Northwest Territories Power Corporation, and Cory Strang, President and CEO of the Northwest Territories Power Corporation, are pleased to announce the opening of a new high-efficiency diesel plant in the Łutselk’e Dene First Nation (LDFN) community.

NTPC is undertaking a major overhaul of the Taltson Hydro unit and therefore there will be increased activity at the Taltson Hydro facility.  This work is scheduled to occur from March 1, 2023, until October 15, 2023. During the overhaul there will be larger crews going to / from site as well as sporadic flights for various sub-contractors and materials to complete the project.

The supply of air charter services from Ft. Smith to Taltson Hydro to accommodate regular operations crew changes as well as delivering groceries and other freight as required at the hydro site.

The present cleaning area is assessed at approximately 19,000 square feet for Head Office and 1100 square feet for the Warehouse. The Contractor agrees to furnish all labor, materials (with exception of those stated within), tools, and equipment necessary for the performance of the cleaning work in accordance with the cleaning requirements described, at the times provided for in a careful and workmanlike manner.

1.    Items must be delivered by Mar 1, 2023, items unavailable by then must be flagged but can have alternate options submitted for consideration from the Cisco IE line with similar port capacity and configurations.
2.    The IE-5000-16S12P is listed as an alternate option to the IE-4010-4S24P due to lead times.

The Northwest Territories Power Corporation (“NTPC”) is requesting Proposals from qualified “Proponents” to provide detailed engineering services for the proposed switchgear and automation upgrades in Tsiigehtchic and Ulukhaktok. The proposed system should enable plant gensets to conduct automated operations and allow for better operational control and monitoring functionality.

NTPC requires a winter road to the Bluefish hydro facility for shift changes and to allow for transport of resupply fuels, waste removal (including sewage) and aggregate to and from site. Construct, maintain and decommission a winter road for shift change, fuel supply, waste removal and aggregate transport to and from the Bluefish hydro facility.
