The Northwest Territories Power Corporation (NTPC) owns and operates the Snare Hydroelectric facilities located along the Snare River approximately 145km Northwest of Yellowknife, NT. These facilities include the Snare Rapids, Falls, Cascades and Forks which are required by water license to have a dam safety review completed every five years. The plants have operating capacities varying from 4.3MW to 9.2MW and supply the majority of electricity for the communities of Yellowknife, Behchokǫ̀, Dettah and N’Dilo.

NTPC requests Contractor to furnish all labor, materials (with the exception of those stated within), tools, and equipment necessary for the performance of the cleaning and janitorial work in accordance with the cleaning requirements, at the times provided for in a careful workmanlike manner.

NTPC is seeking one Electrical Field Engineer to assist Director of the Hydro Division in providing electrical technical expertise and field engineering support services for the operations and maintenance of power systems and all electrical assets for NTPC’s Hydro Zone power generation, substations, system operations (Jackfish Control Centre), and other systems.

HAY RIVER, Northwest Territories (March 8, 2023) In support of an application filed by the Town of Hay River with the NWT Public Utilities Board (PUB) to purchase the Town’s electricity distribution franchise from Northland Utilities (NWT) Ltd.

Northwest Territories Power Corporation (NTPC) serves a population of 44,000 people spread across 33 communities and 1.35M square km (1.18Mkm2 land) in one of the most challenging utility operating environments in the world. NTPC serves the larger communities on the North and South sides of Great Slave Lake using hydroelectricity from its hydro plants via isolated 115kV transmission networks on each side of the lake.

NTPC’s diesel generating facilities in Fort Liard and Wrigley, NT require fuel storage and distribution modules separate from the powerhouse building of the generating facilities. The objective of the project is to procure, install and commission fuel system upgrades for the diesel power generating facilities in Fort Liard and Wrigley.

The Northwest Territories Power Corporation is undertaking a major refurbishment of the Taltson Hydro facility starting March 2023 and continuing until late October. During the work there will be a high population of workers at site and for significant periods and when the population exceeds nineteen or there is high risk work occurring, a dedicated medical attendant is required.   

HAY RIVER, Northwest Territories (February 23, 2023) The Northwest Territories Power Corporation (NTPC) has announced that the overhaul of the Taltson Hydroelectric Facility will begin in April 2023.

Yellowknife, NT is the capital city of the Northwest Territories; and is located on the northside of Great Slave Lake. The Northwest Territories Power Corporation generates and supplies Power to the City via two transmission lines from 2 hydro facilities Snare and Bluefish. They also have a backup diesel generating station located in the city limits of Yellowknife at Jackfish Lake (JLS). (Google Earth Lat and Long 62⁰ 28’07.48” N - 114⁰ 22’51.68” W).

NTPC is undertaking a major overhaul of the Taltson Hydro unit. The Turbine and Generator installer (Litostroj Hydro Inc) has provided a design build solution for the major components and installation of all wiring to junction boxes for furtherance to NTPC’s switchgear and control panels. L&S Electrical has supplied a pre-wired Governor Control Cabinet/ Unit Control Cabinet. VibroSystM has provided the unit vibration monitoring cabinet. CIMA+ has provided a design to complete the interconnection of all remaining wiring referred to as the balance of plant electrical design.
