The Quonset building located in Fort Smith at the NTPC site (approximate dimensions 75 ft L x 42 ft W) was initially built as a garage on a gravel flooring. Through the years
the building was used as a workshop and warehouse because of the increasing maintenance and repairs required on the South Slave's distribution lines.
The Northwest Territories Power Corporation owns and operates and existing liquified natural gas (LNG) power generation facility in Inuvik, NT. The existing facility includes two LNG storage tanks with provision to install a third tank. A project was initiated in 2021 to fabricate, install and commission a third LNG tank.

The Northwest Territories Power Corporation (“NTPC”) is requesting Proposals from qualified Proponents to Fitting and welding services within the Fort Smith Power Plant to Install two Plate & Frame Heat Exchangers on two Diesel Generating sets. The Removal of existing Shell & Tube exchangers and much of the interconnecting piping is required prior to the installation.
