The Northwest Territories Power Corporation (NTPC) owns and operates the Snare Hydro generating system. The Snare Hydro system consists of 5 Hydro Power plants each of which need to be shut down for 2-to-3-week periods, yearly, for necessary maintenance, inspection and repair activities. These activities are supervised by NTPC Specialist Hydro Engineering and operations staff. The inspection usually involves entry into the Scroll Case of the Hydro Turbines – a confined space and as such standby rescuers and sometimes monitors are needed for each entry.
The objective of the project is to assemble and commission three fuel system modules for each facility at Fort Liard, Paulatuk, and Wrigley. The scope of work will be to supply, install and commission the mechanical and electrical equipment described in Appendix C – Scope of Work.

This project includes the engineering for building the foundation, drainage, structural and building envelope for a vehicle Quonset located in Hay River, Northwest Territories Power. The existing distribution assets are being acquired by NTPC and there is a need for a storage location for a bucket truck and other vehicles necessary for operating and maintaining the distribution infrastructure.
The project scope of work includes the engineering, supply, delivery, installation and commissioning of a fabric building with the following criteria:
NTPC owns and operates distribution networks, transmission lines, substations, and generating station across the Northwest Territories. The Transmission and Distribution Division is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and operation of NTPC’s assets from the switch yard to the customer meter. This includes more than 10,000 distribution poles and 600 km of transmission lines.
The Northwest Territories Power Corporation (NTPC) owns and operates transmission lines in the Northwest Territories, including L-150 and L-199, both lines originally built using aluminum tower structures to support the overhead conductor. There are insufficient number of towers in stock and may reduce NTPC’s ability to repair the transmission lines in the event of a storm or unexpected event damaging one of the transmission towers.
L-191 Structure Replacement – The work site is located as shown below at the Snare Hydro facilities, 150 km Northwest of Yellowknife, NWT. L-191 is an existing 115 kV transmission line from Snare Rapids to Snare Falls, which was built in the 50’s of last century. The entire 63 structures of the line were H-frames and three pole structures consisting of wooden poles. Because the structures are close to the end of the lifetime, they will be replaced in phases. This project will replace 10 structures.

As part of the South Slave Hydro System, the Northwest Territories Power Corporation currently operates a 3 MW load bank at the Pine Point substation. A second 3 MW load bank is required to ensure proper operation of the Taltson Hydro generating station 22 MW generator. To add a 3 MW load bank to the existing system. The new load bank will need to be operated remotely and in conjunction with the existing load bank.

The Quonset building located in Fort Smith at the NTPC site (approximate dimensions 75 ft L x 42 ft W) was initially built as a garage on a gravel flooring. Through the years
the building was used as a workshop and warehouse because of the increasing maintenance and repairs required on the South Slave's distribution lines.
The Northwest Territories Power Corporation owns and operates and existing liquified natural gas (LNG) power generation facility in Inuvik, NT. The existing facility includes two LNG storage tanks with provision to install a third tank. A project was initiated in 2021 to fabricate, install and commission a third LNG tank.
